Chinese actress Bao Lei, wife of TV heartthrob Lu Yi, gave birth to a baby girl weighing 3.2 kilograms in the early hours of Sunday morning in Shanghai, Lu's manager told sina.com.
The baby's name has not yet been revealed.
The new father had been waiting outside the delivery room and was quite excited, his manager said. He has asked for maternity leave from the historical series "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", which started shooting in east China's Zhejiang Province at the end of September.
Lu Yi and Bao Lei, both 32, were classmates at the Shanghai Theatre Academy. They tied the knot in 2006 and the new born is their first child.
